How credits work

Held
Before a job starts, its maximum cost is set aside from your balance. If you don't have enough, it doesn't start, and nothing is charged.

Charged
When it finishes, you pay for what the job actually used, never more than was held.

Returned
The unused part goes straight back to your balance. A job that fails before doing any work costs nothing.

What happens to your data
Your files, datasets and conversations belong to your account. Other accounts can't open them, and a request for something that isn't yours is answered as if it doesn't exist.
When the Data Analyst writes SQL, it runs under a read-only database role that can only see your own tables.
To answer you, the tools send your question and the relevant part of your data to an AI model provider (OpenAI or Anthropic). Don't upload anything you aren't allowed to share with them.
